4.2.3.1P Verify Scope
(4.2.3.1P.P1)
Remember that there are two major elements of high-level scope – deliverables and boundaries. The deliverables are built during the project. Many (perhaps most) of the final deliverables are approved by the project sponsor. This approval process is known as “scope verification”. In other words the deliverables, which are a major element of scope, are reviewed by the project sponsor and verified to be acceptable. The scope is then “verified” and accepted by the sponsor.
Scope verification refers to the process of actually approving the deliverables. This process is closely related to Quality Control (QC). Quality Control includes an inspection process to ensure that the deliverable meets the requirements and the quality criteria. Verifying scope is the subsequent approval and acceptance of the deliverable by the sponsor.
